Technology Enhancement for Community Organizations – Current Program |
This
initiative builds on the pilot project that was funded through the Ontario
Trillium Foundation in 2002. In the pilot project, local voluntary sector organizations were surveyed
to determine their technology training needs and a very successful pilot training program was conducted.
The result of the pilot program is the development of TECO which is intended
to build on the effectiveness of the pilot program by using the information obtained in the needs analysis
process to offer a wider range of training programs on a frequent basis. Also, the successful aspects of the
pilot sessions will be repeated and any areas that are in need of improvement will be strengthened. |
This grant will also allow TAG to offer information awareness sessions that
will address the technology related needs and issues that voluntary based agencies are experiencing.
In order to effectively meet these goals, TAG plans to offer: |
- Hands on computer training sessions
- Information sessions on current technology topics
- Technology mentorship and consultation for non profit organizations
This program will encourage organizations to adopt current
information technology practices in order to increase their productivity. |
TAG expects this project to have a long-term ripple effect in our community as the skills gained through this training are transferred within the participating organizations and to the broader volunteer base in the community. In addition, the resources developed in this project will be made available on TAG's website and shared with other CAP clusters across Ontario and Canada. |
